The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single motorcycle crash resulting in one fatality that occurred on Highway 165 in Custer County.
The rider of the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve on Highway 165 at milepost 4. The motorcycle traveled down an embankment, ejecting the rider.
49-year-old Michael L. Van Winkle of Aurora was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
