Dolores Mae (Pfister) Rudy

July 13, 1929 ~ April 20, 2024

Dolores was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on July 13th, 1929, to William and Mary Pfister.  She was the oldest of five children.  In September 1950, Dolores married the love of her life, Michael (Mike) Rudy.  With Mike, Dolores was a loving mother to five wonderful children – Mike (Christi) Rudy Jr., Joe (Leslie) Rudy, Maura Kochevar, Chris (Jeff) Tetrick, Mary (Dave) Anaya.

Dolores raised her family in Denver, where they all enjoyed fishing, picnicking, ice skating, snow tubing, and watching Mike play baseball.  Dolores and Mike loved to dance, and with friends would play cards and enjoy having potluck dinners.  Dolores participated in activities with her church, and always volunteered her time to help others.  She was very devout in her faith.

When the children were all grown, and Mike retired, Dolores and Mike moved to Salida, Colorado.  There, Dolores was a very active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She formed lasting friendships in the community and was loved by all who knew her.  She enjoyed traveling with Mike, dancing, and hosting family at their home in Salida.

Dolores loved her family, which grew to fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-children and many, many nieces and nephews.  Her family lived near and far but was always close in heart.  When Mike passed in May 2020, Dolores moved back to Denver to live with her daughter Chris and husband Jeff.  She lived there until September 2023 when she moved to Arbor View Senior Living in Arvada, Colorado.  In the last months of her life, Dolores’ family visited with her often, and she was graced with caring staff and residents who all thought the world of her.

Dolores was surrounded by many loved ones when she passed on April 20th, 2024.  Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, Mike, daughter, Chris, and grandson Tyler Tetrick.  She is survived by her brother Fred Pfister, sons Mike and Joe, and daughters Maura and Mary.

Dolores will be remembered by all as a kind, compassionate, loving being who always put the needs of others before her own.

A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Salida, Colorado at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday May 2nd, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the church.
