Stepmom of Missing Colorado Springs Boy Arrested on Suspicion of First-Degree Murder

Letecia Stauch, the stepmother of Gannon Stauch, has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of the 11-year-old El Paso County boy.

KUSA is reporting that Stauch was arrested in South Carolina on suspicion of first-degree murder and will have to be extradited to Colorado to face charges.

Letecia Stauch told investigators she last saw Gannon at his home in Lorson Ranch shortly before 4 pm on Monday, January 27th. She told the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office that Gannon said he was going to a friend’s house. No one has seen him since January 27th.

However, KRDO in Colorado Springs is reporting that a neighbor captured surveillance video, which appears to show Gannon getting into a truck that belongs to his stepmother, Letecia Stauch.

The search for Gannon has been ongoing since his disappearance. Last month, crews focused their efforts on an area in southern Douglas County where an “outside search” was conducted near Highway 105.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is still asking for tips from the public, with the goal of bringing Gannon home safely. If you have any information, please call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (719) 520-6666, or email tips@elpasoco.com.

Heart of the Rockies Radio will continue to follow this story as it develops.
