Red Flag Warning Issued for Chaffee and Fremont Counties

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels through 8 pm Sunday night (Oct. 20).

The Red Flag Warning includes the Central Mountains, San Luis Valley, the Eastern Mountains, Chaffee, Fremont, Teller, and El Paso counties. The Watch is in effect for gusty winds, low humidity, and dry fuels.

  • Winds: West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
  • Relative Humidity: 10 to 15 percent.
  • Impacts: Conditions will be favorable for the rapid ignition, growth and spread of fires.

PRECAUTIONARY & PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
