A livestock trailer carrying over 300 sheep crashed yesterday on Highway 285 and closed Poncha Pass for 4 hours.
The crash happened at 8:30 am yesterday morning.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including several fire districts, ranchers and veterinarians.
Several of the sheep had to be put down by the veterinarians, the rest were taken to the Chaffee County Fairgrounds. The driver of the semi was treated for minor injuries.
