West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph across the lower elevations and gusts up to 80 mph across the mountains.

Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

The High Wind Warning is in effect for Central Lake county, Central and eastern Chaffee County, the La Garita Mountains, the Sangre De Cristo mountains, the Wet Mountains and the Wet Mountain Valley, Pikes Peak and Teller county, and Fremont, El Paso, Pueblo, Huerfano, and western Las Animas counties.

PRECAUTIONARY & PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
