CBS Denver is reporting that homes and businesses in Monte Vista are being evacuated due to a fire.
The fire is burning in Monte Vista and mass electrical outages are being reported. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for all homes north of Highway 285 between Jefferson Street and North Henderson Road just after 2 pm. Evacuees are being instructed to shelter at the Ski Hi Complex.
Monte Vista is in the San Luis Valley, about 79 miles south of Salida.
