The Board of Directors for the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce announced today that the Chamber offices will be moving to the Historic Wedge Building at 111 East Main Street.
The transition will begin on April 1, 2021 and should be completed by May 1, 2021.
“The Chamber of Commerce staff and Board of Directors are constantly striving to serve our Chamber Membership with the highest quality of service. The Board is confident that this move will provide our staff with the best opportunity to perform their jobs effectively, while also allowing them the ability to increase programming, advocacy and other key functions expected from a Chamber of Commerce,” said Jay Smith, Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce Board President. “We are thrilled to be moving into this historic and wonderful building on East Main Street and we have no doubt that our members will quickly see the benefits,” continues Smith.
The decision came after over a year of various discussions, evaluations, and meetings with key stakeholders; including staff from the Town of Buena Vista, the Chaffee County Visitors Bureau, and the Chaffee County Community Foundation, as well as others in the business community.
“The Town of Buena Vista is supportive of our local Chamber of Commerce and their strategy moving forward. The Town appreciates the partnership we have had with the Chamber over the years in their use of the St. Rose of Lima Church in Forest Square Park. The Town and Chamber will work together during this transition to provide visitors with information in a more cost-effective way while we look to the future for opportunities for new uses with this historic building,” said Phillip Puckett, Buena Vista Town Administrator
During the transition, the historic church building will be temporarily closed while stakeholders consider how to best utilize the space for our community. There will be resources available at the entrance of the building for visitors to reference when they are looking for information on Buena Vista and the local area.
“In a time when so many businesses were forced to revisit their operations and objectives, the Chamber took the opportunity to do the same. This transition will undoubtedly help us to fulfill our mission to our businesses by allowing our staff to focus 100% of their time on the economic vitality in our community,” said Melissa Traynham, Executive Director of The Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce.
A formal ribbon cutting ceremony at the new building will take place in May with the exact date to be announced.
