Buena Vista and Salida Municipal Community Grant Cycle Opens January 12th

The Municipal Community Grant cycle opens January 12th for local nonprofit organizations seeking grant assistance from the Town of Buena Vista, the City of Salida, or both.

Applications will be accepted beginning January 12th through February 9th. A total budget of $140,524 is available for grant distribution.

The Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF) formed a partnership with The Town of Buena Vista Trustees and the Salida City Council to bring more consistency, transparency, and impartiality to their community grants processes. Beginning in 2020, CCCF designed and administered a separate online application process for each municipality to which organizations could quickly and consistently request grant support from Buena Vista and Salida. In 2021, CCCF combined the community grants application process to create a single application for both municipalities. This change lowers the burden on nonprofit organizations, and allows for one review committee to review, rank, and conduct site visits with each applicant organization. This committee submits their funding recommendations to each municipality for approval.

“Nonprofits are vital to our community, and CCCF is once again excited to partner with the Town of Buena Vista and the City of Salida to help administer community grants. By building a streamlined process, CCCF strives to lessen the administrative burden on nonprofits, so that they may focus on their important and dynamic community endeavors,” said CCCF Executive Director Betsy Dittenber.

501c3 organizations, including religious organizations, in good standing serving either (or both) Buena Vista or Salida residents are eligible to apply for funding. Any organization that

received funding from either municipality in 2021 is required to submit a Colorado Common Grant Report either prior to or with their 2022 application. Organizations who fail to do this will not be considered for funding. More information on the grant program, as well as the Common Grant Report, can be accessed at CCCF’s website here: https://www.chaffeecommunity.org/grants.
