At least five new wildfires ignited over the weekend along Colorado’s Western Slope, increasing the total number of active wildfires across state and federal lands to nine.

Collectively, these fires have scorched more than 53,000 acres across Delta, Garfield, Mesa, Montrose, and Rio Blanco counties. While no lives have been lost, several structures—including national park infrastructure—have been damaged or destroyed.

In response, Governor Jared Polis has issued a disaster declaration, unlocking critical state and federal resources to support firefighting efforts and emergency response operations.
