A grass fire broke out yesterday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. south of Leadville, near Hayden Meadows off Highway 24. Fire crews responded swiftly, and by 5:30 p.m., officials reported 100% containment of the blaze.
As a precaution, Mount Massive Estates and residents along County Road 55 were placed under pre-evacuation orders, and Highway 24 was temporarily closed during active firefighting operations.
No injuries or property damage have been reported at this time.
