Chase Mikesell, a deputy with the Teller County Sheriff’s Office and the son of Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell, has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.

The incident occurred on August 3 along Highway 24 near Divide, where investigators say Mikesell rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped at a construction site.

As part of a plea agreement, Mikesell was sentenced to 12 months of probation. Court records show he is also required to attend a Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel and complete 48 hours of public service.

Additional conditions of the plea include restrictions on firearm possession, except when required for his official duties. Mikesell is also prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol during the probation period.
