Middle school students across the Upper Arkansas Valley are encouraged to apply for the National Civics Bee, a nonpartisan competition designed to promote civic engagement and community involvement.
The competition is open to students from public, private, charter, and home schools and is organized locally by the League of Women Voters and the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce. Participants are asked to submit a four-paragraph essay outlining a creative and practical idea to improve their communities.
Essays will be evaluated, and the top-scoring finalists will advance to a live quiz-style competition scheduled for April 26 in Buena Vista. The deadline to submit an entry is February 3.
Students and families can find the application portal and additional details at lwvchaffeecounty.org.
