Jerry Lee Binder, a cherished husband, father, and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, in Eugene, Oregon. Born on June 21, 1934, in Elbing, Kansas, to Paul and Helen (Hawks) Binder, Jerry cultivated a life rich in accomplishment and service.
Jerry graduated from Chase Rural High School in 1953 and went on to serve his country with distinction as a U.S. Army Combat Engineer stationed in Germany and France. After his military service, he dedicated his career to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, where he joined in February 1964 and retired as a revered Battalion Captain in June of 1994. His commitment to service was a value he held close to his heart throughout his life.
Jerry shared many beautiful years with his loving wife, Sharon Kay (Binns) Binder. Together, they nurtured a warm and loving family, including their sons, Paul Binder (Tracie) of Eugene, Oregon, Kenneth Binder (Wendy) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Michael Binder (Cherie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and their daughter Kelly Sager (Will) of Sioux City, Iowa. His life was further enriched by the laughter and learning he shared with his numerous grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his three siblings, Jim Binder, Gladys Gardner, and John Binder.
Jerry will be remembered as a dedicated, hardworking, and handy man, adoring the simple pleasures of fishing, tinkering, and maintaining his meticulously kept yard. His life was well-lived, marked by integrity, a strong sense of duty, and an enduring kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
