Due to changes at the federal level, health insurance premiums purchased through Connect for Health Colorado are expected to increase significantly in 2026, according to Chaffee County Public Health.
Officials are urging residents to be aware of the potential increases and begin planning now.
Some Coloradans may qualify for financial assistance through the Colorado Premium Assistance Program, which provides subsidies for plans purchased on the state’s exchange. However, individuals and families earning above 400% of the federal poverty level will likely not receive assistance. Final decisions regarding eligibility and subsidy amounts have not yet been determined.
Key enrollment dates:
- November 1: First day to enroll for coverage beginning January 1
- December 15: Final day to enroll for 2026 coverage
Residents who have questions or need help reviewing their options can make an appointment with a Health Insurance Navigator through Chaffee County Public Health.
