Colorado Parks and Wildlife has launched an investigation after a Rocky Mountain bighorn ram was found poached in Saguache County.
CPW says the carcass was reported last Tuesday near County Road 38FF in Game Management Unit 681. Officials are now asking the public for help identifying whoever is responsible.
Anyone with information is urged to contact District Wildlife Manager William Miedema.
Poaching in Colorado is a felony offense. Penalties can include jail time, a lifetime suspension of hunting and fishing privileges, and significant fines. The illegal killing of a bighorn sheep carries an enhanced penalty of up to $100,000.
