Food Distribution Event Helps Over 650 Residents

Over 650 area residents took advantage of the monthly food distribution yesterday at the Salida Community Center.

Community Center Director Elaine Allemang reports that 337 households were helped, representing 658 people including 163 children.

Besides the food, families were given baby items like formula and diapers, and personal hygiene supplies.

The next food drive is scheduled for June 3rd.

The Salida Community Center needs some help of their own during this challenging time.

The Center makes money to operate by renting out the facility to area meetings and get togethers and has not been able to, of course, during the coronavirus outbreak. If you would like to help the Salida Community Center continue its mission of supplying food and basic needs to the areas seniors and low income, call Elaine Allemang at 539-3351.
