As Colorado enters hunting season, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reminding hunters—and anyone enjoying the outdoors—to make safety a top priority.

To help reduce the risk of wildfire, hunters are asked to:

  • Never leave fires unattended
  • Secure chains on campers and trailers
  • Avoid driving or parking over dry grass
  • Build campfires only where permitted, and keep them clear of shrubs, trees, or tall grass

CPW also stresses the importance of visibility. By law, hunters must wear fluorescent orange or pink while in the field, and recreation users are encouraged to do the same to ensure they are easily seen.
