The Colorado Department of Transportation is advising motorists to expect heavier-than-normal traffic on Highway 69 between Walsenburg and Texas Creek this weekend.
The increase in traffic is expected as thousands of visitors travel to Westcliffe for the annual High Mountain Hay Fever Bluegrass Festival, which runs today through Sunday.
CDOT notes that alternate routes into Westcliffe remain closed because of the Aspen Acres Fire, making Highway 69 the primary route for festival attendees.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, be patient, and use caution while traveling through the area.
