There are plenty of events happening across the Arkansas Valley this weekend, although one major event has been canceled because of ongoing wildfire activity.

The Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival in CaƱon City has been canceled. Organizers said the decision was made because of the multiple wildfires burning in the region and concerns about placing additional demands on volunteers and emergency personnel.

The first annual Arkansas Valley Car Show takes place Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Colorado Regional Airport in Buena Vista. The event will feature classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, aircraft displays, food trucks, vendors, and old-school music.

The Salida Farmers Market returns Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Alpine Park with locally grown foods, artisan crafts, and live music.

The Colorado Brewers Rendezvous takes place Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Riverside Park in downtown Salida. More than 65 Colorado craft breweries will be featured, along with live music and food trucks. Tickets are available at coloradobeer.org.

The Chaffee County Democrats will hold their Summer Fundraiser Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. at the SteamPlant Event Center in Salida. Featured speakers include Colorado Senate President James Coleman and House Speaker Julie McCluskie. Tickets are available at chaffeecountydemocrats.org.

Salida Aspen Concerts launches its 50th season Saturday evening with a free performance by violinist William Yeh at the Salida High School Auditorium. A pre-concert talk begins at 6:15 p.m.
