Xcel Energy is planning Public Safety Power Shutoffs across western and southern Colorado today as wildfire conditions remain high.
The utility says approximately 14,000 customers are expected to be affected, particularly in the San Luis Valley, including Saguache County.
The shutoffs are being implemented as a precaution due to a combination of strong winds, dry vegetation, and low humidity—conditions that increase the risk of wildfires sparked by electrical equipment.
Customers in impacted areas are encouraged to prepare for outages and stay updated as conditions continue to evolve.
