SALIDA, Colo.— A collection of original mixed media paintings from Salida artist Kerstin Stock are on display at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) now through June 30 of this year.
Stock’s exhibit, Scenes from the High Country, depicts the arid earth and high peaks of Chaffee County in the vibrant color palette she is known for. Stock utilizes a mixture of watercolor, colored pencil and oil pastel to create the bright, sizable features of the landscapes, down to the intentional, minute details, like subtle shadows cast over mountain faces and tiny blossoms dotted on shrubs and cacti.
“My work seeks to connect people with each other and our incredible world by featuring animals, community and nature,” shares Stock. “An exciting departure from my more whimsical illustrations, these landscapes are entirely relatable and other-worldly at the same time, capturing the unbelievable beauty we all witness here in our Colorado home.”
Stock is an alumni of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, Rhode Island. To view more of Stock’s work, visit her website at www.kerstinstockart.com, or visit her Instagram page @KerstinStockArt.
HRRMC displays the work of regional artists each quarter, with an emphasis on the Arkansas Valley. Call 719-530-2217 for more information on exhibiting art at HRRMC.
