A five-day manhunt for Paul Sandoval, a fugitive wanted since 2021, ended Sunday morning when U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement arrested Sandoval on Blanca Peak in southern Colorado.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Sandoval had been on the run for more than three years after allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl and fleeing into the mountains.
Authorities renewed their search in August when Sandoval was reportedly seen in Alamosa County, where he allegedly broke into a car and a home before evading capture once again.
Sandoval is now in custody and expected to face multiple charges in connection with the alleged assault and recent property crimes.
The operation involved U.S. Marshals, the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office, and other local agencies.
