The AARP Smart Driver course is coming to Salida later this month, offering older adults an opportunity to refresh their driving skills, learn about new vehicle safety technologies, and potentially lower their auto insurance premiums.

The one-day class will take place at the Salida Community Center on Friday, October 31, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Topics covered include:

  • Updated vehicle safety features and how to use them
  • The impact of medications on driving ability
  • How age-related physical changes can affect driving and how to compensate for them

The course costs $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. Upon completion, participants may be eligible for auto insurance discounts, depending on their provider.
