The 20-day strike involving Safeway union workers has officially ended. The walkout affected 45 stores statewide, including some in the Upper Arkansas River Valley region.
A tentative agreement has been reached between the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 and Safeway’s parent company, Albertsons Companies.
According to the union, the deal includes:
- Fully-funded pension and healthcare benefits
- Improvements to dental and vision coverage
- Strong wage increases across all positions
Safeway workers will now vote to ratify the agreement in the coming days. Operations at all impacted stores are returning to normal.
