The Cañon City Fire Department had a busy Fourth of July, responding to four separate fire incidents throughout the holiday.
Crews were called to:
- A fire on Skyline Drive during the city’s fireworks show
- A 4-acre wildfire near the Dinosaur Flats shooting range
- A structure fire causing damage to a detached garage
- A fully engulfed fifth-wheel camper trailer
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from any of the incidents.
The causes of the fires are under investigation, and fire officials are reminding residents to use extreme caution during high fire danger periods.
