There’s a full lineup of events happening across the region this weekend, offering everything from live music and art to community service and family-friendly activities.
Alpine Orchestra Spring Concert
Alpine Orchestra will present its spring concert series with multiple performances:
- Tonight at The Old Church at 7 p.m.
- Saturday at SteamPlant Event Center at 7 p.m.
- Sunday at 3 p.m. at Buena Vista High School auditorium
Spring Collage Show Fundraiser
The Salida Schools Arts Council is hosting its 11th annual Spring Collage Show Fundraiser tonight from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Salida High School.
Students across visual, performing, and industrial arts will display and sell their work, while drama students perform three one-act plays. Donations will be accepted at the door, benefiting arts scholarships.
Spaghetti Dinner for Veterans & Families
The Sons of the American Legion in Buena Vista will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cliff Sexton American Legion Hall.
Proceeds will support Mountains Move, a nonprofit providing retreats for veterans, first responders, and families dealing with PTSD and trauma.
Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
Fremont County Electronics Recycling Event
Fremont County will host an electronics recycling event Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Department of Human Services parking lot.
Accepted items include electronics, latex paint, and appliances (excluding those with Freon). A $30 fee applies to televisions and CRT monitors; all other items are free.
Keeping Buena Vista Beautiful
The Town of Buena Vista will hold its 6th annual “Keeping Bewnie Buena” clean-up event Sunday.
Organized by the Buena Vista Recreation Department in partnership with Greater Arkansas River Nature Association and Bless BV Day, volunteers should meet at the Buena Vista Community Center at 1 p.m.
Participants will be assigned cleanup areas. Gloves are recommended; trash bags will be provided.
Ark Valley Civics Bee
The 4th annual Ark Valley Civics Bee will take place Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.
Hosted with support from the League of Women Voters of Chaffee County and the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce, the competition features middle school students testing their knowledge of civics and the Constitution.
Winners advance to the state competition in Denver this July, with a chance to compete nationally in Washington, D.C.
Fish Salvage at Antero Reservoir
An emergency fish salvage is underway at Antero Reservoir.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife says the action is in response to Denver Water’s planned reservoir drainage.
All bag and possession limits have been lifted through May 13, after which public access will close.
Salida Walking Tours Return in 2026
Salida Walking Tours will return in a limited format for the 2026 season after a year-long closure.
Owner Steve Chapman says tours will run twice weekly and include:
- Wild West History Tour (Memorial Day–Labor Day)
- Cleora Cemetery Tour (September)
- Ghost Tour (October)
- New “Holy Nights and Mountain Lights” Christmas Tour (December)
