Weekend Events Across Chaffee County

It’s a busy weekend in Salida and Buena Vista with art, music, festivals, and community gatherings.

Friday, Sept. 5

First Friday in Downtown Salida – Art galleries offer extended hours, receptions, demonstrations, live music, and chances to meet local artists.
Friday at the Farm Concert – Turner Farm in Buena Vista hosts Tom Dalton. Music begins at 6 p.m., admission by donation.
Creative Mixer – The Salida Council for the Arts and Salida Arts and Culture present the monthly mixer at the SteamPlant from 5 to 6:30 p.m., featuring the juried results of the 10th annual Fiber Art Exhibition. Free and open to the public.
Rally in the Valley Pickleball Tournament – Opening day at Centennial Park in Salida begins with women’s doubles competition. Play continues through Sunday.

Saturday, Sept. 6

Salida Airport Air Show – 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harriet Alexander Field. Aerobatic airshow, planes on display, scenic flights, helicopters, jets, food trucks, and an 8 a.m. pancake breakfast. Free admission.
Salida Fiber Festival – Riverside Park hosts fiber vendors, demonstrations, fashion pop-ups, silent auction, food and beverage vendors. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Farmers Markets – Buena Vista (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Columbine Park) and Salida (8 a.m. to noon at Alpine Park).
Family Safety Awareness Day – Buena Vista Community Center, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sponsored by Bringing Our Valley Hope. Features a Passport Game with safety info, plus a free lunch of “sloppers,” hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, and more.

Sunday, Sept. 7

Mountain West UAS Roundup – Free drone demonstrations at the Buena Vista Drone Training Park, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn how drones are being used in public safety, business, mapping, and photography.

Sunday & Monday

Mountain West UAS Roundup (continued) – Moves to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort on Monday.
