High fire danger continues through tomorrow as winds gust as high as 40 mph and relative humidity levels drop to the single digits. A Red Flag Fire Warning is in effect.
Light snow makes a return to the mountains tomorrow night into Sunday. Up to 2 inches of new snow will be possible.
Salida and Buena Vista will see a high of 67. A low of 37. (71)
The San Luis Valley can expect a high of 63, a low of 31. (65)
Leadville and Fairplay look for a high of 43 with a low of 27. (45)
A Red Flag Fire Warning remains in effect due to warm, dry and wind conditions. Fires will catch and spread quickly. No outdoor burning is allowed.
The National Weather Service has also issued a High Wind Watch for the Front Range and foothills. The Weather Service is forecasting sustained winds of 50 mph and gusts up to 90 mph.
Xcel Energy plans to implement enhanced powerline safety settings—making lines more sensitive and automatically shut off power if something hits the line.
