Ark Valley Helping Hands (AVHH) is calling on community members to lend a hand at the upcoming Summer Service Day in Buena Vista on Friday, July 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help older adults with light yard work and window washing, simple tasks that can make a big impact on their ability to remain safe, independent, and connected in their homes.

Many older adults in Chaffee County face physical limitations that make maintaining outdoor spaces difficult. Through this volunteer-powered service event, AVHH aims to not only improve the living environments of older neighbors but also provide meaningful opportunities for social connection and community support.

“This is a chance for folks of all ages to give back in a really tangible way,” said Aubrey Tamietti, Program Manager at AVHH. “Even just a few hours of yard work or window washing can brighten someone’s week and help them feel cared for and supported.”

Volunteers will be matched with older adults who have requested help with tasks like weeding, trimming, and cleaning outdoor windows. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to help and a friendly attitude. Volunteers under 18 are welcome with an adult. To sign up, contact Aubrey at 719-530-1198 or or use the link https://forms.gle/dNmfWJMg43qULZqH9.

Help build a more connected and compassionate community by joining AVHH’s Summer Service Day. Let’s show our older neighbors that they’re not alone!
