Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH) is excited to announce that it is officially launching its local Purple Air Quality Monitoring Program. There are several monitors that have been placed in strategic locations across the county to give the public a sense of timely and accurate air quality readings as well as public health recommendations when air quality levels pose a risk for certain populations.
Chaffee County is now equipped with four Purple Air Monitors. One monitor is located in Poncha Springs at the Town Hall. The second monitor is located at the Touber Building in Salida. The third monitor was installed at the Buena Vista Annex on Linderman Ave, and the last monitor has been newly placed at the County’s Road and Bridge Offices in Buena Vista. The public can monitor these regional particulate concentrations at the Purple Air website:
If you have questions on hazy or smoky conditions, the Purple Air site is a useful place to get data on particulate counts across the region, state, and country.
