SALIDA, COLO – Chaffee County Treasurer Dee Dee Copper has announced her retirement after serving for 15 years in the County Treasurer’s office, including 3 terms as elected Treasurer. Copper’s retirement commences on December 1st, just in time for ski season during which she will continue to support her family business, Bill’s Ski Rentals in Leadville. Copper was first elected to the Treasurer role in 2014 after initially serving as deputy treasurer for 3 years.

Copper will formally announce her retirement at the regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on November 12th. She has recommended the appointment of Deputy Treasurer, Jolene Ellis, to fill the Treasurer position. Ellis has served in the Chaffee County Treasurer’s office since 2014. The Commissioners expect to appoint Deputy County Ellis to the Treasurer role at their regular meeting on November 12th.
