BUENA VISTA, CO – The Sangre de Cristo Electric Association (SDCEA) has awarded $35,000 in grant funding to nonprofit organizations serving Chaffee, Custer, Fremont, and Lake Counties, supporting programs that promote health, safety, and community well-being across central Colorado.
The grants were distributed through the 2025 Fall Grant Cycle, administered in partnership with the Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF). This year, 32 eligible applications were reviewed by a volunteer grant committee, with 16 organizations selected for funding.
SDCEA’s community giving programs, including the First Responder Grants, Matching Grants, and Fall Competitive Grants, are made possible through contributions from the cooperative’s business partners, as well as unclaimed or donated capital credits and members who voluntarily round up their monthly bills to the nearest dollar.
The cooperative emphasized that these grants are not funded through regular electricity payments or SDCEA’s general operating budget, but instead through dedicated community giving programs that reinvest in the region SDCEA serves.
