The Colorado State Patrol, along with local law enforcement agencies, is launching a Fourth of July weekend DUI enforcement period starting today through Monday as part of the statewide “The Heat is On” campaign.

Expect to see increased patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and saturation enforcement efforts as officers work to prevent impaired driving crashes during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

📊 DUI-Related Fatality Trends:

  • July 2024 had the highest number of impaired driving fatalities in the state, with 28 deaths.
  • However, CDOT reports a 15% drop in alcohol-related traffic deaths so far this year compared to the same period in 2023.

Officials remind drivers to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, or use ride-sharing services if drinking during holiday celebrations.
