Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Remain in Effect Across the Region

Stage 2 Fire Restrictions remain in effect for Lake County, Park County, Fremont County, and Chaffee County, as well as the municipalities of Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, and Salida.

Under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions:

• No open fires may be built, maintained, or attended.
• All campfires are prohibited, including those in permanent fire rings or fire pits.
• Explosive targets and any incendiary devices that could ignite flammable material are prohibited.

LP gas and liquid-fueled stoves or appliances equipped with an on/off valve remain permitted under the restrictions.

Officials remind residents and visitors that lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the United States Forest Service remain under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions at this time.

With hot, dry, and windy conditions continuing across the region, everyone is urged to use extreme caution to help prevent human-caused wildfires.
