Shots Fired in Canon City Walmart Parking Lot: One Arrested, No Injuries Reported

CANON CITY — The Canon City Police Department is investigating an incident involving gunfire at the Walmart parking lot on Highway 50.

Officers responded yesterday afternoon after receiving reports of a disturbance involving several individuals inside a vehicle. According to witnesses, an argument escalated and a male subject fired multiple shots at a nearby group of people.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Police have arrested 56-year-old John Elliot of Florence. He was booked into the Fremont County Jail on a charge of first-degree assault.
