U.S. Senator Michael Bennet is expected to announce his candidacy for governor of Colorado today. Bennet joins Attorney General Phil Weiser in the Democratic primary to succeed Governor Jared Polis, who is term-limited and cannot run again in 2026.
Bennet has served in the Senate since 2009, following an appointment to fill the seat vacated by Ken Salazar. He was elected to full terms in 2010, 2016, and 2022.
