Search and rescue crews are actively working to locate 27-year-old hunter Kaden Sites, who was reported missing Wednesday evening, according to Andy Rohrich.

Sites went turkey hunting on Mount Shavano around 1:30 p.m. and was expected to return to town for a doctor’s appointment at 3:45 p.m. When he failed to show up, his family became concerned.

Authorities say his truck — along with his cellphone — was later found near the Blanks Cabin Trailhead.

Sites is from Salida and is described as a 6’2”, 160-pound white male with light brown hair, a goatee, and mustache. He was last seen wearing a green hoodie, ripped khaki pants, and hiking boots. He is believed to have had a shotgun and binoculars, but no additional equipment.

The search effort is extensive, involving over 60 personnel from multiple agencies, including search and rescue teams, K-9 units, drones, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft.

Officials are urging the public to stay away from the area to avoid interfering with search operations. Sheriff Rohrich emphasized that unauthorized presence, including drone use, could divert critical resources and delay efforts to find Sites.
