The Salida School District Board of Education is reminding voters in the District of the November 7th general election.  

The District is comprised of seven directors, with five geographic seats and two at-large seats. The November election will include five seats up for election–Districts 1, 2 and 5 and two at-large seats. All incumbents have indicated that they are running for re-election with the exception of Carrie Mattix in District 1. 

A candidate for the school board must be a resident of the school district and a registered voter for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election. Because school director elections are nonpartisan, candidates may not campaign as members of a political party. 

A person who desires to be a candidate for school director must file a nomination petition signed by 50 eligible voters. Petitions and required affidavits will be available at the School District Office beginning August 9th.

Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
