Salida Approves Resolution to Add More Public Parking Downtown

The Salida City Council has approved a resolution to enter into a commercial lease agreement for public parking on a quarter acre private parcel of land between 1st and 2nd Streets.

City Council said that over the last few years, the City has repeatedly heard from business owners and citizens that more public parking is needed in the downtown area. The new lot will provide 30-35 additional parking spaces and is adjacent to the public parking lot near Safeway.

The Salida City Council also approved on first reading and ordinance which would increase compensation for the Mayor by $4,200 annually, $10,800 for the three City Council seats that will be up for election, and $3,600 annually for the Treasurer.

The total annual cost increase beginning in November 2025 will be $18,600.
