The Salida Fire Department is continuing live-fire training exercises behind the new firehouse at 507 Scott Street through Wednesday.
Residents in the area may notice smoke during the early morning hours. City officials say the smoke is part of planned and controlled training activities, and there is no cause for alarm.
According to the department, live-fire exercises are a critical part of firefighter training. The drills allow crews to practice responding to real-world fire behavior, improve safety procedures, and maintain the skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies throughout the community.
The Salida Fire Department says it appreciates the community’s understanding and support while crews conduct this essential training.
