Salida, CO – In an inspiring show of generosity, the City of Salida’s pledge to match donations to the Chaffee County Community Foundation’s (CCCF) Emergency Response Fund (ERF) has more than doubled the impact of local giving. The City committed to match every dollar donated, up to $15,000 to help address rising food insecurity across Chaffee County.
The community’s response was swift and heartfelt: residents and local businesses met the full $15,000 match in just five days, bringing the total raised to $30,000 in support of local food access initiatives.
“This outpouring of support shows just how much our community cares for one another,” said Christy Doon, City Administrator for the City of Salida. “Meeting the match so quickly is a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can make a real difference for our neighbors in need.”
Funds from this campaign are already making an impact. Emergency grants are being distributed to food access programs and local pantries through chaffeecommunity.org/grants, while the Emergency Response Fund is also supporting Chaffee County DHS grocery gift card initiatives for SNAP recipients.
Although the match goal has been reached, the need for food access support continues. Donations to the Emergency Response Fund can still be made through ChaffeeGives.org, where 100% of contributions stay local to assist those facing food insecurity and other urgent needs.
