Salida Community Center is sponsoring a Community BBQ this Saturday as part of preparations for this summer’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Center located at the intersection of 3rd and F Street in Salida. Organizers say the BBQ will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, potato salad, cookies and drinks for a suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children.
A Weber grill donated by Salida Ace Hardware will also be given away during the event at 3 p.m.
Salida Community Center Board Secretary Vicki Sue Vigil said the fundraiser is intended to “honor our first responders, veterans, the men and women who serve and protect us,” noting that Saturday also marks Armed Services Day.
