Pre-evacuation status remains in effect for parts of Park and Teller counties in the area of County Road 403 and Alpine Meadow Lane for the 403 Fire.
In an update yesterday, Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell told the good news to the community that they can return home.
The fire stands at just over 1,300 acres with 25% containment, but Mikesell says conditions are well enough to lift mandatory evacuations. No structures have been lost to the 403 Fire and at this time, the fire is holding at the Teller and Park County line.
The U.S. Forest Service assumed command of the fire over the weekend.
