A fire that broke out in Buena Vista on Monday was caused by an owl landing on a transformer, according to Buena Vista Police.
The fire ignited near Yale Avenue and James Place, west of Highway 24. A Buena Vista police officer and Chaffee County deputies were the first to arrive on scene, finding flames spreading and threatening nearby homes.
Neighbors reportedly responded quickly, bringing out garden hoses while law enforcement used fire extinguishers to help contain the blaze until firefighters arrived. Crews were able to knock down the fire before it caused significant damage.
No structures were lost, and no injuries were reported.
