Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital are sponsoring a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) exercise tomorrow in Granite. The drill will simulate a crash involving two tour buses traveling in opposite directions on Highway 24, blocking both directions of the highway.

The Colorado Department of Transportation emphasizes that this is a training scenario only and there will be no actual closure of US 24 during the exercise.

Participating agencies include St. Vincent and Chaffee County EMS, dispatch centers from Chaffee and Lake Counties, Lake County Fire, emergency management offices from both counties, and the South Central Healthcare Coalition.
