The afternoon of November 3rd, 2025, officers of the Buena Vista Police Department were made aware of an alleged assault that took place in the Town limits of Buena Vista on Saturday, November 1st and into the morning of Sunday, November 2nd. Officers learned that the alleged victim of the assault fled to the Salida area and this individual was pursued by three Hispanic males who were involved in allegedly assaulting and threatening this individual at a party at a residence in Buena Vista. The suspects engaged in alleged continued criminal activity at and near the Sinaway Lodge in Salida, prompting a call to the Salida Police Department.

Our officers were contacted by detectives with the Salida Police Department who were investigating the incident in Salida. During the course of this investigation, the Salida Police investigators learned about the alleged assault in Buena Vista. Upon receiving this information, our officers began investigating the incident that occurred in Buena Vista at a residence on Red Tail Blvd. Based on our investigation up to this point, officers of the BVPD obtained an arrest warrant for Miguel Polo (41) of Buena Vista, CO, for Solicitation to Commit Murder, a class 2 felony.

Since we are working this investigation in tandem with the Salida Police Department, due to overlapping, alleged criminal incidents in our respective jurisdictions, we are including the Salida Police Department press release as well, as it documents the evolving investigation between our two agencies up to this point.

SALIDA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE. Salida, CO – On November 2, 2025, at about 2:56 AM, SPD officers responded to a home invasion at the Sinawav Lodge in Salida. Multiple armed individuals forced entry into a residence, assaulted two victims, and held them against their will before fleeing the scene to the Denver Metro Area.

SPD Detectives identified the suspects as Daviler Brito Ibarra (24) of Buena Vista, CO, Carlos Garcia Reyes (41) of Buena Vista, CO, and Wisan Ruiz (25) of Buena Vista, CO. SPD determined this was an isolated incident connected to organized criminal activity involving a Venezuelan gang. The investigation further determined that the criminal activity began earlier the same night in the Town of Buena Vista, where another victim was assaulted by the same group of suspects. That victim fled to Salida seeking safety, and the suspects pursued the victim. The suspects located the initial victim’s vehicle near a residence. They then forced entry into the residence in an attempt to locate the initial victim, however the victim was not in the residence nor did the victim have ties to this residence. The occupants inside this residence were attacked and held against their will for over twenty minutes, but they had no knowledge or relation to the initial victim from Buena Vista.

The assault was connected to the case in Salida. Officers learned that the victim of the Buena Vista assault fled to the Salida area and was pursued by three Hispanic males. Those males were involved in assaulting and threatening the victim at a party at a residence in Buena Vista.

SPD Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Daviler on two counts of C.R.S. 18-2-101 – Criminal Attempt – A Class 3 Felony, two counts of C.R.S. 18-3-103 – Murder in the Second Degree (Attempt), C.R.S. 18-3-303 – False Imprisonment – A Class 5 Felony, C.R.S. 18-4-202 – First Degree Burglary – A Class 3 Felony, two counts of C.R.S. 18-3-206 – Menacing – A Class 5 Felony, and C.R.S. 18-6-401 – Child Abuse – A Class 2 Misdemeanor. Additional arrests warrants were obtained for Carlos and Wisan for two counts of C.R.S. 18-2-101 – Criminal Attempt – A Class 3 Felony, two counts of C.R.S. 18-3-103 – Murder in the Second Degree (Attempt).

During the course of this investigation, Buena Vista officers obtained enough information to issue an arrest warrant for Miguel Polo (41) for Solicitation to Commit Murder, a class 2 felony. After speaking with the 11th JD District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that Buena Vista PD would direct file all the additional charges for Daviler, Carlos, and Wisan that stemmed from the incident in Buena Vista. The charges will include: Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, Second Degree Assault, Third Degree Assault, Menacing, Harassment, and Criminal Mischief.

With assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s Pueblo Fugitive Team, Daviler was arrested in the Denver Metro Area on 11/06/2025 and booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash only bond. The three other suspects remain at large and are believed to be outside of the Buena Vista or Salida area. We are still actively investigating this incident and more arrests may be pending. All suspects named are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
