GRANITE, Colo.— Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) and St. Vincent General Hospital District are sponsoring a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) functional exercise on Weds., June 11, 2025. This exercise will focus on decision-making, coordination, and integration with multiple jurisdictions/organizations during a large-scale bus crash scenario. The expected outcome of the exercise is to strengthen interagency and partner coordination during a response to an MCI.
The scenario will include two tour buses carrying vacationers traveling in opposite directions on Hwy. 24 in Granite, CO, with a crash that will block both directions of Hwy 24. There will be 32 occupants onboard each bus, including each driver. There will no physical “patients” partaking in the exercise.

· Chaffee County & Lake County Offices of Emergency Management

HRRMC will have its own Incident Command activated, with several internal departments taking part in the exercise.
