The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office has put multiple communities on pre-evacuation notice due to the Decker Fire burning south and east of Salida.
Currently, pre-evacuation has been announce for Howard, Wellsville, Pine Ridge and Swissvale. The forecast in the coming days is calling for strong winds out of the west, which could push the fire east towards those areas.
There will be a meeting held at the Howard Fire Department at 5:00 pm for more information.
Pre-evacuation does not mean evacuations will be necessary, but it is important to be ready to go at a moments notice. Some good tips for packing and preparing for evacuations can be found in the graphic below.
