Governor Jared Polis is calling for a special legislative session to address the concerns of homeowners facing skyrocketing property tax increases after the defeat of statewide proposition HH during Tuesday’s election.
One proposal aimed at seniors in Colorado would double the current homestead exemption to $200,000. Republicans want to lower all assessment rates for residential and nonresidential properties.
The special session is set to begin on November 17th.
